Obama says he’s open for questions, asking Americans to send him questions through text or video on his new website called Open for Questions over at whitehouse.gov.

He’ll be answering them Thursday in an online town hall style video and the first installment will focus on the administration’s handling of the economy.  So far, according to the site, “10,629 people have submitted 12,130 questions and cast 385,451 votes”.

It’s the latest example of the administration’s effort to use the lessons of the presidential campaign, to open up a direct line to the American public and bypass the main stream media.  Prompting my question: if Ask the President is a hit, what will become of the White House Press Corp?
