Let’s Do the Time Warp Again

Obama erases McCain’s post-convention Palin bounce, leading McCain in two national polls out today.  He’s up by 5 in the latest New York Times/CBS Poll (48-43%) and ahead by 4 in the latest Quinnipiac survey (49-4%).

But the major concern for the McCain campaign, sending advisors to sound the alarm, is the widely held view among those polled that McCain is a “typical Republican,” who will continue the policies of President George Bush.  Despite McCain’s best efforts to unlink himself from the Bush-McCain chain, voters still perceive him as Bush 44.

A bad sign heading into the debates, where Obama’s lead will only spike.  The prediction markets should tumble into a frenzy from this news today, while the stock markets continue to stabilize…phew.

  1. What makes you think Obama will spike after the debates? His stellar performance at the last one? 🙂
