Well Played, Barack Obama

According to a Nevada poll taken during the primaries:

Nevada voters remain overwhelmingly opposed to federal plans to store the nation’s nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, according to a statewide poll…The survey of 600 likely Nevada voters conducted for the Reno Gazette-Journal found that 76 percent oppose the project and 57 percent say the issue will be important in making their choice for president.

Now the Obama is up in key battleground Nevada running this ad slamming McCain for supporting the storage of nuclear waste in Yucca Mountain

This is classic David Axelrod, using localized issues to attack an opponent and win over key demographics.  He did it with Tom Vilsack in Iowa, running ads providing a solution to the smelly pig farm problem.  It’s brilliant and flies way under the radar of national news.  I say forget national polls at this point, focus on the battlegrounds and who’s winning the West.
